What a week!!!

I am at the library. Hubby is home sleeping. Has an interview coming up for a day position where he works. Oh, I soooo hope that he gets it. Going on a year of him working over nights...I think it alters a person, that kind of shift. Anyway, always thankful to have jobs. Finishing up this week with 42 hours in. Looking forward to a slower bit of time and getting some creating done. Am at the library, so cannot post a picture. I am sure there is a way to do this. Have some great pictures e-mailed to me lately, but do not even know how to do that.....get them transferred.

Won't ramble on. Have enjoyed, when I have been able to get to the computer, to see all that is going on. All the events, creations, shared thoughts, etc.....just absolutely amazing! I feel so inspired inside and out and can't wait to create some new things!

Blessings this day! debbie

Good Samaritan....

I wrote this on my other blog, "Devotionally Yours", but feel I need to share it here, too. It is a risk. It is an "unsightly" story, I think. Takes us to the unpleasant, away from the pretty, safe places we create. But this is so wrong, this to have happened. Is it controversial or unpleasant to ask, "Where is the humanity?" The world isn't all beautiful with little vignettes here and there....that is why I can't do "life" without Christ. It is from the depths that I share with you.....I love to create and hope in creating that I glorify the One who gifted me with this crazy mind, at times!!! I want to give God all the glory, strengthen others in fellowship and point to Him in all that I do. As the Lord called to the darkness and out of this void, created everything.....I hope that He can work through me. Please read the story below. It was in the Aberdeen News for today....thanks, deb

New York---The homeless man lay face down, unmoving, on the sidewalk outside an apartment building, blood from knife wounds pooling underneath his body.

One person passed by in the early morning. Then another, and another. Video footage from a surveillance camera shows at least seven people going by, some turning their heads to look, others stopping to gawk. One even lifted the homeless man's body, exposing what appeared to be blood on the sidewalk underneath him, before walking away.

It wasn't until after the 31 year-old Guatamalan immigrant had been lying there for nearly an hour that emergency workers arrived, and by then, it was too late. Hugo Alfredo Tale-Yax, who police said was stabbed while intervening to help a woman being attacked, had died.

Tale-Yax was walking behind a man and a woman on April 18 when the couple got into a fight that became physical, according to police.

Tale-Yax was stabbed several times when he intervened to help the woman. She and the other man fled in different directions, and Tale-Yax pursued the man before collapsing. Authorities are searching for the man and woman.

Lord Jesus, please forgive us. And at times like this.....I just wish You would come now. We humans aren't doing a very good job down here.....

relating mothers to various flowers and their spiritual meaning!

A good friend
from Georgia sent this to me this morning. I have to get going here. Working atleast 42 hours this week "outside" the home. I plan to take May off with one of my jobs and get some creating done, some cleaning out and getting ready for a garage sale, the city wide in early June. Have wonderful ideas floating around my head day and night! Need to get things done. Anxious to catch up on blogs after the event everyone was talking about in Savannah that took place this last weekend. The event was called Petticoats and Parasols.

Well, blessings to you all this day. And thank you, Lord, for mothers!!!

Here are more pictures of "Cameo Compacts" !!!

I did some personal ones for people using their own photographs. It is always fun to make it more personal. When I came across this album, I couldn't help but wonder who these people were, what is their family story? I am sure you all have come across pictures with nothing written on the back. Lost sad. Well, the evening is drawing to a close.....I have spent most of it trying to figure out blogging details. Really didn't get anywhere and ended up deleting and such.....just a big headache at times!!! But, I will persevere!!!

Cameo Compacts!!!

Cameo Compacts

Made these awhile ago. Will post more of the fronts. Wanted you all to see the insides. I sure had fun with these. Sold a few and "tucked" a few away. Had found an old album that still had old photos inside....what a treasure!!!

"Vintage postcards"!!!.....

Have enjoyed getting out some of my old postcards and am now sharing them with you all and have them listed on ebay. It is just amazing the quality of postcards from way back when..... You can do a search on ebay by seller: mine is ddemmers42.
I put several lots on ebay of WWI and WWII postcards, love letters, ration books, etc. I didn't copy any of them and hope they all find a good home. A time most of us cannot imagine.....a time of great courage, mastering fears, love found and love lost. A time of saving and reusing, appreciating the little things, hoping and praying, tears of sorrow and tears of joy. Sacrifices made....."All Gave Some, Some Gave All" on a stone in front of our local courthouse honoring all branches of the military. I come from generation upon generation of those that served and still serve.

All I know is that love should never be taken for granted and...

Peter, Paul, Mary and "Jack" said...."So long"...

Oh, my goodness!!! I was at the antique store today putting up my tree birdfeeders, my lantern birdfeeder, my lamp birdfeeder, etc., and garden things and so on and noticed my chandelier birdfeeder that I had just written about on the 13th was gone! Went downstairs to check the sales slips for the day and someone bought it! I am going to miss Peter, Paul, Mary and Jack! I hope the person who purchased it will really enjoy it. It is quite a kick when I am working and someone buys one of my creations and I get to see who is taking it home....but, not today! Missed it!!! Well, it was a one of a kind piece....that is what I always can find one of a kind items here at the Spink County Mercantile by some of our talented people in the community. So, if any of you wonderful people are ever near Redfield, South Dakota....stop by. Have pictures in older posts, but our store is always changing. Need to take more pictures to share with you. Good night, Peter, Paul, Mary and Jack.....hope your new home is swell! debbie

Peter, Paul and Mary and......

Just taking a break from "LaDeDa"....oh, have more great pictures, but was sharing with some gals today that came into the antique store that were looking at my birdfeeders. Told them that the cup and saucer birdfeeders with the charm laden spoons handle the wind it was mighty windy in midwest South Dakota today!!! And then the chandelier birdfeeder I made.....oh, they thought that was cool! Had fun with that, too. I will be putting more things like that out in the store....have my tree feeders that are birdfeeders, but are made from the old decorating sconces. You can hang them from the tree trunk. They are fun and the way some of those sconces are coated, one doesn't have to do much to them.....not everything has to be "antique" white these days!!!

Have a good rest of the week! Wind is dying down.....really needed it to dry out the fields around here!

Thanks for looking! deb

Cup and saucer birdfeeders above are fun to make. A great way to use odds-n-ends, or to have those special pieces out and used to make us smile, warm our hearts and feed the birds....remembering that even the "least of these" the Lord cares about.

Already provided some "friends" for the birds....don't they look "friendly" enough?
Oh, how about Peter, Paul and Mary and......Jack. Yeah, I like Jack. Jack it is!!!
In honor of Pastor Josh and Marley's little one....Jack, who is expecting a brother in August!!!

"LaDeDa"!!! and getting some KITS ready!!!

Sharing more pictures. I have been busy myself with some projects. Planning on slowing down my work schedule as so many of you bring such inspiration to me!!! Finished some salt and pepper shakers, filling them with glitter and embellishing them. Plan to offer them in kits.....have been blessed with so much great stuff over the years and do not have enough lifetimes to do projects with all of it!!! So, have been praying for continued inspiration and thoughts on how to put all of that together. Will post a picture or two of the shakers soon. I think they turned out pretty dandy if I say so myself!!!

More of Tina's treasures at LaDeDa!!! I have seen this done with the JUNKMARKET ladies, too. Don't you love it?!!!

I love this cupboard! There is a sweet little friend in it, can you see him?

Oh, how can we be offended by this little sweetie as he reminds us to watch what we eat! Yet, I do watch what I eyes watch it go into my mouth!!!

Well, hope you all are having a wonderful day. Already took Bev for our long walk. Now I am listening to Christian radio and there is a storm warning north of us. No one needs anymore water around here! The farmers are going to have a time of it as it is getting into the fields on schedule!
Blessings! God is good! deb

Still skipping through "LaDeDa"!!!!

Oh, I just had so much fun here....."LaDeDa"....what a great name for a place to go and just dream and let the brain wander! Isn't this vanity dreamy in itself?!

OK, I will take this living room set any day!!!

Tina sure has the gift for arranging!!! Such a nice lady. I hope that you visit her blog and see all the stuff she has. Unfortunately, I don't think the Midwest has caught up to all the latest trends. I necessarily don't follow the trends, but create, buy and enjoy what "I" like. Don't have collections of any one particular thing....oh, well, maybe I do BUT nothing too costly or hard on the budget! salt shakers, things like that! Right now, I have quite a few shakers filled with glitter. Getting ready to put some kits together....

Drawers!!! Drawers!!! I love anything with drawers!!!

Husband, Joe says this is a spark plug display....yes, an old one!

Well, may spend a little time viewing other's blogs for the day. Sure had fun last night. Had gone to bed early, woke up around 10:45 pm and looked at blogs until 1:45 am! Time just flies when looking at all the fabulously creative people!!! Is "fabulously" a word???

"La De Da" Antique Store....Sioux Falls, South Dakota!!!

I don't know if any of you have ever been to South Dakota! I haven't met any bloggers online that are from South Dakota, yet, except for my friend Peggy. Well, when my husband and I were in Sioux Falls, which is the biggest city in the state, there were some fabulous places to go to see antiques, etc. The Knights of Columbus even had a sale at their building and we saw some great stuff! Below, is how Tina of "LaDeDa" shows you how to get to her place. She is only open certain times of the year and shows much of what she has on her own blog. It was such a treat to visit her place, located downtown where a friend of hers owns the building. Tina's place burned down last year and she lost her inventory. Since then, she has worked hard at building her offerings back up. She has such a gift for display! I will be spending the days ahead sharing the pictures she allowed me to, let's go see LaDeDa!!!

This is the front outside.....already can tell that she is a fun lady!!! Isn't this front soooo inviting!!!!

The floors are all wood and the backdrop is stone walls!!!

Floor lamps aren't just for lighting!!!

.....and bird cages aren't just for birds!!!

I will share more each day that I can....have to get some things done and then am off to work!!! Blessings....deb

Another blog started!!!! Devotionally Yours!!!

Starting a new blog!!!
Just wanted to give you all a heads up!!!!! I started another blog for my encouraging stories, devotions and sharing about my late husband's journey with his cancer. I am so excited as this is my first love....writing and sharing how good God is!!! How I could not live life without Him and would hope to uplift others and walk together in this journey of life here on earth.....awaiting our real home....the one God has been working on for thousands of years, like the late Keith Green shares in a song!!!

So.....hope that you will embark with me on this other journey, too. I have shared some of my Cameo Compacts that I made a couple years back or so.....had so much fun with those!!!! Let me know what you think!!!

Gotta get to and blessings, debbie
